What is it? Burdock root is the carrot-like root of the plant Arctium lappa, a biennial herb found in the United States, Europe and China. The roots are collected during the fall or early spring before the plant flowers. For centuries, burdock root has been known as a blood purifier. It is also eaten as a vegetable in Japan. Other popular uses for the herb are: for water balance, for healthy skin, for healthy joints, as a way to naturally cleanse the body, and as an add-in to salads, stirfry, soups and tea. Burdock root includes Vitamins E, B-1, B-6, and B-12. And it includes manganese, magnesium, and zinc. |
