Our standards have to be astronomically high to achieve the super-natural results of our hair, skin, and body care products. We go above and beyond the call of beauty to check every box: effectiveness, sustainability, and luxury.
Our products are third-party certified organic to the highest standards in the world. Not all certification seals are created equal, which is why we’re fully transparent about exactly what percentage of our products is organic, natural and plant-based. Some ingredients can’t be certified organic technically because they aren’t grown in soil, but we make sure anything not certifiably organic is still as clean and sustainable as possible.
Our Certifications
Leaping Bunny certified since 2008.
No animal testing. Leaping Bunny is the only internationally recognized cruelty-free program. This standard is awarded to companies who prove that the finished products and the individual ingredients have not been tested on animals. I-N's compliance start date is September 2008. Testing of cosmetics on animals has been banned in many governments including the EU. In fact, a Humane Cosmetics Act was re-introduced in November 2019 in the USA. USDA certified organic products since 2008.
The United States Department of Agriculture awards its seal to products whose total contents are 100% certified organic, or whose total contents are 95% certified organic where the remaining 5% of contents are drawn from a small, select number of ingredients that are not organically grown, and pose no known risk to health or environment.
COSMOS organic since 2011.
This internationally recognized standard of organic and natural cosmetics requires 95% of the product’s agro-ingredients to be organically produced. The remaining ingredients must meet strict criteria to ensure that they are not damaging to our health or the environment. This standard also bans GMO, nano-ingredients, irradiation and animal testing.
COSMOS natural since 2011.
This certification applies when some plant-based ingredients or essential oils are not available certified organic, like the beloved jasmine. Although not required, the organic content % will be on the product label. We strive for a minimum of 65%.
Green E® certified since 2008.
100% certified wind energy. Green-e® is a renewable energy program through the Center for Resource Solutions. I-N participates in the Green-e® Marketplace program. We purchase wind energy through the local utility for our Headquarters. I-N also purchases wind renewable energy certificates (RECs) for the energy used on our behalf by our manufacturing partners.
Why Natural and Organic?
Using natural and organic ingredients is essential—for our bodies and our planet.
Our skin is the largest organ in our bodies, and it absorbs what you put on it—which is why we believe the only intelligent solution is to use non-toxic, natural and organic ingredients in our personal care products.
But it's bigger than that. Plant-based, natural ingredients are biodegradable, and reduce the burden on non-renewable resources.Organic farming is better for the environment: it causes less pollution, it's more sustainable, and it promotes biodiversity.
Certified organic means products have no prohibited pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, which reduces toxic runoff into our water supply and preserves the quality of our soil for generations to come.
We certify so you know what goes into the products we make. If a product is not certified, the percentages of natural and organic ingredients are listed on the package.
