FAQ

FAQ

Do you offer a refillable program?

We really appreciate and respect the need to reduce the use of plastic consumption and wanting to do well for the environment. Sadly, we do not have a refillable program at this time. It is something that we looked into but found it to be difficult to maintain/control and there is a legal aspect that is often not adhered to in refill packaging. Our products must be tested for stability and safety in the final container and meet our quality standard. We are always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint with our products and packaging and hopefully one day we can create a plastic-free option.

FAQ

What is PCR (post-consumer recycled) mean?

The material (paper, plastic, metal, etc.) has been out on the market, used by a consumer, sent to a recycling facility and then processed to become a product for a consumer again. Ultimately, diverting material from the landfill and utilizing in the production of other commodities. -Reduces the amount of plastics going to landfills -Reduces microplastics making their way into oceans, seas and waterways -Reduces carbon footprint (often requiring less, water, energy, etc.) -Eliminates the need to use fossil fuels as a raw material, i.e. producing 100% post-consumer PET is 60% lower than manufacturing virgin PET – and this includes the energy required to collect, recycle, and remanufacture the plastics.

FAQ

Is the packaging recyclable?

Check with your local recycling service. In general, glass can be separated from pumps/sprayers and put into glass recycling containers. Airless packaging (Megapumps) can be put into mixed plastic recycling systems. Cartons are recyclable in mixed paper recycling systems.

FAQ

Why Plastic packaging?

Longevity, stability, low shipping weight at max capacity, making sure the product comes out of the bottle—sometimes plastic is the best way to minimize the overall impact. We choose post-consumer recycled plastic whenever possible. Oure hair care bottles are 90-100% PCR, our tubes are minimum 50% PCR.

FAQ

Are you affiliated with Aveda

Aveda and IN were founded by the same family. Aveda was sold to Estee Lauder in 1999. Following a 10-year non-compete the same Rechelbacher family created IN in 2008.

FAQ

Why are some products not filled completely to the top

Product is required to be filled to the level that meets the label claim on the packaging. For efficiencies the same package may be used for different products that have different weights and thus are filled to the appropriate weight listed on the package.

FAQ

Why does my credit card show two charges?

When a purchase is made, an authorization charge is placed on credit/debit cards that temporarily holds funds on an account. This is not actually a charge on your card. Once the order has been shipped, this authorization becomes an approval and charges your account.

FAQ

Are your products gluten free?

We do not add gluten or gluten containing ingredients to our products, however the individual ingredients may come from a manufacture that does process products that do contain gluten. Because we don’t add gluten directly, we claim gluten-free, but the finished goods have not been tested for gluten.

FAQ

Does IN use virgin plastic or recycled packaging materials..

We choose recycled (post-consume recycled) packaging materials whenever possible versus virgin to reduce our environmental footprint. Our shampoo/conditioner bottles are 90-100% PCR. Oure cartons, shippers and boxes are 100% PCR. Our tubes are a minimum of 50% PCR. By the year 2021 we will be free of all virgin plastic containers.

FAQ

I ordered your products as a gift. Are there prices in the box? Can I get a gift receipt included?

No, we do not include the pricing on the Invoice receipt or inside the box containing the order. All billing information is communicated via email.

FAQ

What does sustainable mean?

Quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance. Choosing ingredient or packaging components that are sustainable, either renewable or recyclable ensures long-term availability of resources. -We choose plants as most are renewable. Petroleum is non-renewable with limited and finite availability. -Recycling a material (i.e. post-consumer recycled plastic) extends the availability of that finite resource.

FAQ

Why is Sustainable Palm important?

Growing, harvesting and processing of palm oil has led to clear-cutting and burning massive areas of forest to plant more palm trees to meet demand. You'd be hard pressed to go 24 hours without consuming something containing palm oil—it’s used in so many products, and that’s the problem. Most palm oil harvesting is contributing to climate change, putting wildlife populations at risk by destroying their habitats, creating conflicts with indigenous communities living on company concessions, as well as worker exploitation and labor abuses. I-N is committed to using sustainable palm only in our products in cooperation with organizations promoting sustainable palm attempt to mitigate these issues, such as the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil or RSPO, which promotes the growth and use of sustainable oil palm products, helps push through credible global standards, and offers certifications.

FAQ

If the Smart Armor Perfume Serum & Spray are safe why does it say, “do not apply to children’s hands” on the package?

The warning is a legal warning required for all bug repellents. In addition, children are very likely to put their hands into their eyes. Eyes are very sensitive and prone to irritation with any material—even completely inert materials like water can cause irritation depending upon the individual.
